On Pit Row NASCAR Magazine Issue 4 Ready for Download Now

On Pit Row's NASCAR Magazine Issue 4 hit the App Store Newsstand Sunday. It's a special, dueling covers issue.

Editor In Chief Dan Beaver took a trick from the comic book industry and created alternate covers for this issue of our NASCAR magazine.

The inspiration for the dual-cover format was the driver featured in this issue's feature profile, Danica Patrick. The profile article, authored by Bruce Simmons reflects Patrick's effect on the sporting community. On one hand she is extremely popular and has accomplished much in the sport. But she has a legion of detractors, from NASCAR Nation to The King himself, Richard Petty. The cover treatment is our nod to how polarizing Patrick can be.

By now, you know that Kevin Harvick won the Ford Ecoboost 400 at Homestead Miami Speedway and was crowned the 2014 Sprint Cup Series champ. Harvick edged Ryan Newman, who finshed second in the championship, without a 2014 race win.

That Newman could get as close to the Cup and be win-less in 36 races, sticks in the craw of many NASCAR fans and commentators. It is a quirk in the current Cup series point system. That system has evolved over the years. In issue 4, Bob Ellis breaks down the evolution of the championship point formats.

Harvick won at Homestead, in the final, one-race showdown between the Championship 4 of Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin, Harvick and Newman. But there were nine races and three segments making up the Challenger, Contender and Eliminator rounds of NASCAR's playoffs. We recap those races and rounds in issue 4.

There is a terrific high-rez photo gallery of pictures of NASCAR drivers, in candid moments at the track with their children. These are all original NASCAR pictures taken by our BethAnne Heisler. Very cool.

In a new segment, Shane Smith authored background on our Tomorrow's Superstar video feature with ARCA Racing Series competitor, Josh White.

Issue number 4 has all of the above, plus recaps and stats from the Eliminator round races, fantasy racing power rankings from the number one fantasy racing guru, Dan Beaver and more NASCAR photos and video.
