Expert Advice

  • Not many surprises to the A-List. KuBusch, Hamlin, Montoya and Stewart are all worthy promotions from the B-List. However, starting Montoya (with only one solid season under his belt) as your top driver is a bit of a risk.
  • Kenseth and all of the main RCR drivers (Bowyer, Burton, Harvick) drop down to the B-List. RCR made big improvements during the Chase so expect this trio to rebound and offer a lot of value. Ambrose certainly deserves the promotion from the C-List. I don’t understand promoting Keselowski. Sure, he won a race and had some decent finishes but 2010 will be his first full-time Cup season. From seeing the wrecks he has triggered, Keselowski clearly has a lot to learn.

  • The entire list of C-List drivers is much longer so I left off most of the likely start-and-park drivers and those currently without a ride. With the exception Mears, all of the drivers demoted to the C-List really should have been there last year. Mears fell into this list because he has no sponsorship after Daytona. If RCR, or another team, is able to get him back on the race track full time, Mears could prove to be a good value.

The A group should be stacked this year but the B group drivers will have a hard time finishing top 10 every week and that means lower scores. I’m sure it’ll work out with the 17,9,29,47,55,39. maybe RCR & JR will give us more options. Kes should be in C and Mears did pick up a ride for a few races so he’ll be worth a look before he starts & parks.
